For this week’s T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 ROM of the Week, check out the latest version of Carbon ROM.
Based on Android 4.4.4, Carbon ROM gives you the best of Android OS along with numerous number of customization features that will allow you to fully utilize the latest Android features to the fullest.
First off, the latest Carbon ROM has two cameras working flawless out of the box, and no dithering like some of the older Android 4.4.2 custom ROMs. That bug has finally been squashed and you no longer have to reply on your sixth sense to take great videos. You will also enjoy PhotoSphere, Panorama, and Lens Blur on Google Camera (download on Play Store).
Latest Carbon ROM features many of the customization you have probably seen before plus some more including Battery Saver Mode, custom system animations (check Toast animation in settings), Active Display, 8 Slider Lockscreen targets, Lockscreen notifications (my favorite, now actually used on the beta Android L Preview), Pocket Mode, PIE Controls, OmniSwitch, HOVER notifications, and some more.
Also, I have tried the Wild Kernel, which works fine and gives you overclocking but it breaks your vibration on version 005. (Future versions may fix this but for now, I would wait a week more for more stable version.)
Overall, Carbon ROM is certainly the best Android 4.4.4 custom ROM out “right now” so definitely give this bad boy a go this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

Download Android 4.4.4 Micro Gapps (DO NOT USE STOCK REGULAR GAPPS!!!)
IF YOU HAVE CWM RECOVERY OLDER THAN VERSION 6.0.4.3, UPGRADE your CWM Recovery to latest version by downloading the zip and installing with your CWM recovery OTHERWISE ROM WILL NOT INSTALL!
Download and install CWM Recovery 6.0.4.3 for KitKat custom ROMs (ONLY FOR SGH-T989!!!)
To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps, and reboot. (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop, reboot into recovery, go to Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)

A: You forgot to install Gapps, reboot into recovery and install it! (See above for download.)
Q: The ROM is not booting!
A: Try formatting /system and re-install ROM, sometimes the system partition gets corrupt and you may have to try 2 or 3 times before the ROM boots.
